What does beetroot actually do?

Beetroot naturally contains dietary nitrate. The body can convert nitrate to nitric oxide, which helps blood vessels relax and supports normal blood flow. Ascend Beetroot Capsules provide 1,300 mg of organic beetroot powder per two-capsule serving; that amount of powder does not tell us its nitrate content or guarantee a performance effect.

How beetroot relates to blood flow

Bacteria in the mouth help convert dietary nitrate to nitrite; the body can then convert nitrite to nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide helps blood vessels relax, supporting normal circulation. This describes a biological pathway, not a promised result from any particular serving of beetroot.

What the research can and cannot tell us

Much of the exercise research has used concentrated beetroot juice or nitrate doses far larger than a typical capsule serving. Findings from those studies should not be assumed to apply to two beetroot capsules.

The 1,300 mg on our label refers to organic beetroot powder per two-capsule serving, not to nitrate. Without a standardized nitrate amount, it would be misleading to promise a particular nitric oxide or exercise effect.

Where capsules fit in

Ascend Beetroot Capsules are a convenient way to include beetroot in a daily routine without preparing juice or mixing a powder. Follow the serving directions on the product label.

Think of them as a daily beetroot supplement, not a guaranteed workout boost or a substitute for a balanced diet and training.
